Zhuorim’s Centre of Excellence in Turriff is one of the few European manufacturing sites to have received the triple certification of ISO 9001 for Quality, ISO 14001 for the Environment and OHSAS 18001 for Health & Safety in the past.
On a regular basis we are inspected by SEPA, the environmental regulatory government body and have been granted the permit to operate and this ensures that we are working according to EU laws and consistently meeting targets set by the EU as outlined in both ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
The Regenerative Thermal Oxidiser
As part of our commitment to protect the environment Zhuorim TTR UK operates a regenerative thermal oxidiser.
Its purpose is to convert pollutants produced during the manufacturing process to carbon dioxide and water vapour.
This is achieved by heating the pollutants to a temperature above 800ºC.
The oxidiser is a five canister design and this allows for the lowest possible emissions to the atmosphere. It also uses LPG as the primary fuel and again this ensures a very low level of secondary contaminants.
Each canister is filled with ceramic media that can accumulate and release heat energy rapidly.
This is essential in the efficient operation of the oxidiser.
To minimise heat loss the canisters have very high levels of insulation, this also improves efficiency.
Reliability is vital for such an important piece of equipment, the operation of the oxidiser is controlled by a Siemens PLC.
